TAKE NOTE! - September 2010

Thank you all very much for your help in making our concert, held jointly with the Stuttgart Recorder Orchestra and pOLyPhoNiCA Recorder Trio on 5th June 2010 at St Luke's, Hoylake a great success. Thank you to all who took part and who helped in any way - particularly those who donated raffle prizes!

Any successful concert relies on the availability of its members to turn up regularly for practices. We only meet once a month so it shouldn’t be too difficult to organise your lives to keep that one afternoon free. I do thank the members who are thoughtful enough to let us know in advance when they are unable to attend.

NEW MEMBERS:

As we have had many new members in recent months I thought it a good opportunity to repeat information.

Welcome to all the new members.

I hope you will enjoy the rehearsals, concerts and social opportunities.

WRO sweat shirts are needed (we often wear these for the winter concert) please see Janet, our treasurer, who does sterling work to ensure we don't go into the red! We are hoping to introduce polo shirts with the WRO logo soon.!

SALES TABLE:

As we try to keep subscriptions for the year as low as possible, the monthly sales table does help with finances so please do support it.

Thank you to Pam Toft for keeping it going. I’m sure she would welcome help on the day, but also do please try to support this each month either by bringing items for sale or by buying. As mentioned above, this fund raising does help to keep subscription costs down..

Re: subscriptions - the fee is £12 for the year, payable in September 2010.

REFRESHMENTS:

You may have noticed that our tea ladies belong to the Church and are not members of the Orchestra. We are extremely grateful for them serving us refreshments each month. We would be lost without their help!

There is a dish on the table when you collect your tea. We each put in 20 pence to help pay for the tea and biscuits.

MUSIC:

A constant moan! Please try to return music at the rehearsal immediately following a concert. If you know you are not going to be at that rehearsal then make sure you leave it with me (or any member) straight after the concert. It is most annoying to have odd scraps of music being returned when everything has already been put away in a folder and filed.

An amnesty for all old music will be held during the September and October rehearsals. I promise not to look askance when music is returned!

When music is given out please check that you do not have a copy with a red dot in the top right hand corner. This is my master copy!

FUTURE REHEARSALS :

REHEARSALS

All rehearsals will be at
Hamilton Memorial URC, Claughton Village, CH43 8TG
from 3 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
on the SECOND Saturday in the month.

Subscriptions are due at the September rehearsal. This year, please could you fill in the form giving your name and address when you pay. Due, in part, to the sales table and refreshment money we are able to hold the subscriptions at £12 per annum for yet another year!. I'm sure you'll agree that this is value for money. However, I sometimes wonder whether a hefty subscription would ensure that you all turned up for every rehearsal in order to get your money's worth!

Please make sure you put these dates in your diary.
All rehearsals on Saturdays at 3 p.m. in Hamilton, Claughton Village (unless stated otherwise)
